Sewing. Not my strongest attribute, but it’s something that I am determined to pass on to my daughter someday. My Mother and Grandmother are much better seamstresses than I am.

As a little girl, I would spend time at my Memaw’s house and, admittedly, it would frustrate me when I needed to tear out an entire seam if it didn’t look good… but as time has gone on I realize that the attention to detail she taught me help me understand the work that goes into hand-made items. And there have been plenty of seams that I have ripped out through the years :)

Similarly to my baking style, I don’t strive to make everything handmade because I clearly don’t have the time, but I like to make a few special items by hand because I think they mean so much more when they are created by the heart. I’m not a good “hand-sewer” — I don’t like to fix buttons. But, I think I am an ok “machine-sewer” and don’t mind creating a bag from a pattern as long as it doesn’t require a single hand stitch. :)

I just got a brand new sewing machine recently and will be completing more sewing projects as we get closer to the baby’s arrival but here are a few things I have done in the past… hopefully lots more projects coming soon:

A baby blanket I made for a dear friend

The edging

Curtains I made for our bedroom

The details
