- smiling at familiar faces everyday

- making more sounds — oo’s and coo’s

 - using her hands to grab (my hair, blanket, pacifier out of her mouth)

- sleeping through the night consistently (for the most part)

- she still fights going to sleep — she is a busy girl and doesn’t want to miss a thing!

- wearing size 0-3 months clothes, and a size 1 diaper

- sitting in her bumbo all by herself for about 20 minutes at a time

- taking 26 ounces everyday, weight: 11.5 lbs

Schedule:

7 am – up and drink 5 ounces, then we have our morning talk time (she just makes all kinds of fun noises and smiles!) and play until about 9 when she goes down for her morning nap

11 am - drink 5 ounces, then we have tummy time and back time, exercises and an afternoon chat until about 1 when she goes down for her afternoon nap

3 pm – drink 5 ounces, more development and talking until about 5 when she goes down for her second afternoon nap

7 pm – drink 5 ounces, play time with mommy and daddy, cuddle time until about 8 when we put her down for her evening nap… sometimes she skips this nap completely if there’s too much excitement

10 pm – bathtime and story time

11pm – drink 6 ounces, cuddletime, lullaby, and rocking until she goes to sleep (she likes to be gently rocked cradled in our arms, held snuggly with her head on the chest so that she can hear a heartbeat, with a pacifier in her mouth). She’ll normally fuss a few times while she’s trying to fall asleep but once she’s tired she will drift to sleep pretty quickly.

She’s sleeping through the night from about 11-7 every night consistently… there are some nights when she’ll start stirring around 5 but she usually just wants her pacifier and then will go back to sleep. We have also found that she really likes sleeping in her boppy — we fastened the 2 “wings” together so that it makes a little donut and she sleeps real good all cuddled up like that as opposed to stretched out on her back in the bassinet.

We are trying to use her bassinet mostly but I co-sleep with her in the bed when hubby is out of town.

Next week is my last week of maternity leave so I am going to enjoy every little second of it and do nothing but spend time with our little angel. I’m going to miss her alot during the days when I go back to work but I am also excited to get back to working as well. I thank God everyday for my career and for the generous maternity leave that I had – I enjoyed every precious moment and am so thankful for the time that we got to spend together bonding! It’s amazing how much she’s grown in just these first few quick months!

It sure was nice to hear from other momma’s and to compare stories and tips.

She stretches, makes a groan and appears to be asleep… I slowly back up and walk towards the door (holding my breath) hoping that I can finally finish my dinner. I get to the living room, take 2 bites and hear her crying from the bedroom.

I went and got her and brought her into the living room and we are currently trying the bouncer again… I’ve  got the laptop in my lap, the bouncer on the coffee table and I’m rocking it with my foot…. talk about multi-tasking, right?! My foot is almost asleep from the lack of blood flow. I’m only good at rocking her bouncer with my right foot, the left foot is all kinds of awkward. I guess the silver lining is that I should have a very toned calf muscle in my right leg in a few years She wants/needs to go to sleep so bad but just won’t close her eyes. I’m sure pretty soon she will be so exhausted that she will drift asleep again.

This ”fight the sleep” scenario has happened to me twice today. Baby girl really wants to be awake, but what she doesn’t realize is that when she misses her nap time she’s awfully fussy… just like me.

Anyway — I know I’ve been away from the blog for a while… it just didn’t feel right blogging with all that was going on, but things are finally getting a little bit back to normal so I will be posting more updates soon. Can’t believe sweet Lillian is already 2 months old… time is flying by!

Lily and Vivi got to see each other again!

PS- I love Lillian’s face in this picture… not quite sure what she was thinking but she sure has some funny expressions.

Vivi did a lot of sleeping and Lily did a lot of pooping.

I imagine if they could talk Vivienne would be saying something like “Would you be quiet? I’m trying to sleep!!” and Lily would be saying something like “I’m trying but it’s really hard work to poop! I keep moving my feet back and forth but it doesn’t seem to help!”

Meanwhile in the other room… the big kids played Guitar Hero. (You can’t tell these 2 are brothers, can you?)

The girls will be getting together again soon, so stay tuned for more adventures!

She’s finding her voice and making more noises (besides crying and grunting).

We went to the doctor today and she has gained 2 pounds since her 2 week check up. She is now 8 lbs. 12 ounces. I had to double glance at the scale when I saw the 8 pop up… I thought surely that’s not right? She can’t be 8 pounds? But, it was right… she’s getting bigger every day!

She has developed a little strawberry birthmark on the inside of her lower lip — nothing to be concerned with and it doesn’t look too bad. The doctors think it will go away on it’s own within a few months.

To celebrate her One-month birthday I took a few pictures…. here are some photos from our little photo shoot at the house:

I am so thankful to have gone through pregnancy with Ashley (since she was pregnant at the same time) and to be able to compare symptons, stories, talk about the good and the bad and just have someone to be empathetic with. It was also nice to not be the only pregnant lady at all of the gatherings we would go to with our friends

I was due June 4th and Ashley was due June 8th.

On the day we were induced I was thinking of Ashley and we were texting each other throughout the day for updates and I was really excited when I found out that our girls were born the same day!

Back to today…  Amy, Ashley and Vivienne came over to have a play date. It was so nice to see Amy and Ashley – I haven’t seen Ashley since a few weeks before we were pregnant and Amy is always fun to be around! Plus I seriously needed some girl time! It was also my first time to meet Vivienne — what a beauty she is! Gorgeous baby girl with lots of personality and the most stunning blue eyes! 

The little girls mainly slept, they ate a few times and pooped a few times. I think we had 6 diaper changes between the 2 of them.  The big girls sat around and talked about how much they’ve both grown, all their milestones and how life changing having a baby really is! It was really neat to have Vivienne and Lillian together!

Now a full nights rest and hopping in the car to run a quick errand are vague memories.

Lillian is growing more and more everyday — here are some milestones from this week:

1) She can hold her head up briefly when laying on her tummy and turn it from one side to the other

2) She’s staying awake about 4-6 hours everyday and she’s very alert when she’s awake

3) She can follow my face (or an object) with her eyes when it moves slowly in front of her face

4) She’s so curious when she’s awake — she loves looking at things that have high contrast, she will just stare around the room and look at every little thing.

5) She’s waking up once during the night to eat (very nice!) and can go about 3-4 hours between each feeding

For the 4th of July we had plans to go watch the Rockwall Fireworks at Harry Myers Park and to spend the following day at Gary’s parents house. Lillian did great at the fireworks show — we had great weather, a slight breeze and some fun family time. We were worried the fireworks would be too loud but they didn’t bother her at all and she was wide awake during the fireworks!

The next day we went to Sulphur Springs and spent the day — it was our first full day away from the house and Lillian did really good. We were exhausted at the end of the day but she did great seeing all of her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents!

Lastly, here is a post partum update for me: I’m excited that I’m 10 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight (I gained 30 lbs).  I can start to really work out soon and I’m ready to try and tackle these last pounds to get back into my pre-pregnancy wardrobe sooner rather than later!
