It was a nice little treat to prepare us for the last 2 1/2 months of this pregnancy. We have about 11 weeks left now and I truly am getting bigger by the minute but at least I can still see my feet. :)  lol.  I should really stop looking at the scale but I want to ensure that I don’t gain an excessive amount here in the last little bit.

Back to the sonogram… We were very surprised to find out that Lillian is in the breech position… this whole time these “kicks” that I thought that were very low (below my belly button) were actually her hands that are close to her little bottom.

Her feet are right in front of her forehead so her kicks are real high right now - (what I thought were punches were actually kicks!)

Maybe this is a sign that she’ll be a Rangerette one day? ;)

It was so wonderful to see her face – we can’t tell if she has my nose or Gary’s nose ;) but either way she is just perfect!

But, you can’t always count on 8 inches of snowfall in 1 day — so I had to document this as best as I could because it is just miraculously beautiful to me.  Last night our directv satellite went out because of the 8 inches of snow that was built up on it… so we decided we would be handy and get out and try to dust it off.

This was the lovely outfit he chose to put on:

We couldn’t reach it with the broom and so we gave up for the night.

I decided to take a few night shots of the snow…

The next morning we still didn’t have any satellite and I was starting to get anxious because I was missing the news :) so we decided to give it a shot again… this time we thought we would just throw snowballs at the dish.

Good news! Success — we got the dish uncovered and our tv is working again :)

Gary didn’t get to take a snow day so he had to go to work :(

I decided to play around with the camera while he was gone and see if I could get some more neat snow shots… here’s what I came up with:

I promise I didn’t put any bird food on the ground… it looks like they’re taking all the snow!

I just heard on the news that today we set a record snowfall at DFW for the past 32 years! That seems crazy to me… but that’s what they said?

Then there’s the elementary school years where all the girls are figuring themselves out – it’s a time of true trials and tribulations. Girls can be mean at any stage, but it’s also important to go through these years and I’m sure it will be amazing to watch her learn from these years and build values to become a strong Christian woman one day. I know that the teenage years won’t be easy but once you get past those hormonal years the relationship that grows between a Mom and her daughter is one of a true friendship, of the utmost respect and admiration, and one that I believe is unbreakable.  Mom’s know their “baby chicks” better than anyone else and they always know what to say and how to say it to make it right.

When the ultrasound tech yesterday told us that it would be a little girl I just was in shock and amazed. So many thoughts run through your mind… it’s like my life flashed before my eyes but in the future… very weird feeling. Last night I dreamed of future tea parties, playing dress up, singing in the church choir, PROM, WEDDING, college — but then I thought of grandbabies. I can’t tell you exactly how my Mom felt yesterday when she found out it was a girl – but I know she was excited and full of joy, to see her little baby girl have a baby girl has got to be an incredible feeling.

I would still love to have a boy one day (and I’m sure Gary would too) – and if we are blessed with a boy we will love everything that involves raising a little boy, but since yesterday my mind has been consumed with pink so I had to sit down and write about it and share my excitement.

I can’t post this without talking about the relationship between little girls and their daddies either. There is no doubt in my mind that Gary is going to be the best Dad to our little baby girl ever… I can just picture him now with all the pink gear, making sure that her bow doesn’t fall out of her hair but most importantly teaching her the basics of baseball and fishing. I can also see him using those big eyes and little pigtails to help him gather up some more autographs and I’m sure that she will happily oblige because she’ll be spending time with her “hero” (her Daddy). He is going to be the ultimate protector, the best tea party guest, our live in sports anchor and the best Daddy ever (in my eyes).  We were talking last night and I mentioned how exciting it was that one day he was going to get to walk her down the aisle … such an incredible moment for a Dad… he just started glowing with excitement. There’s so much to look forward to.

Above all, I want my little girl to have a network of Christian women that surround her that she can go to with anything. I want her to have a close relationship with her Grandmothers for sure. And I also want her have a close relationship with her “Aunts” – of course she will be close to her Aunts by blood/marriage (Amy, Lisa and Angie!) but I also think “Aunts” can be any woman in her life. I’ve always called my Mom’s cousins (Karla, Marla, Sharla, Darla, Camy, and Nancy) “Aunts” and I have so many wonderful friends that are going to be the best “Aunts” ever. I value the friendship that I have with my girlfriends and I trust them just like I would trust a sister. I want our little baby girl to know that she call any of her “Aunts” anytime (for a playdate or for advice) :)

This weekend I think I will start on the nursery… I’ve gotta go looking around to get some ideas, but I’m thinking many shades of pink/maroon, white/cream with a splash of various pale greens. Not sure, I still have lots of looking to do, but I’m thinking soft, vintage and relaxing.

All of this has made me reflect on my relationship with my Mom — here are some pictures of us through the years.
