Wow – time is flying by. Lillian is 16 days old today!
We went to her 2 week check-up at the doctor and she is doing great — she’s grown a full inch longer and gained 3 ounces over her birth weight so she is now 6 lbs 15 ounces
Our second week has gone great — we’re still tired and she still has her days and nights mixed up but we’re getting there. Each day it seems to get a little easier.
Milestones this week:
I feel like I’ve changed a ton of diapers, seems like every time I turn around she needs a new diaper.
She has started to lift up her head more and more – when I try to burp her she really lifts up her head and uses her neck muscles
She has started to make more noises, especially when she’s crying.
Speaking of crying… for the most part she is a calm, happy, content baby but occassionally she gets a round of gas and fusses for a while. The worst ones (so far) seem to occur between 11Pm and 1 AM right when we’re trying to settle down.
I started to get “cabin fever” this week and had to get out of the house a few times — even if it was just to go to Sonic and get dinner.
We ventured out of the house on Day 13 for the first time as a family. She did really good and slept the entire time. (side note: I’m still terrified to take her out in public – not because of the germs – but because I’m afraid she’ll start crying and for some reason that makes me nervous… eventually I’m going to have to settle with the fact that babies cry and occassionally that happens in public).
Luckily I’ve only had a couple of days with her completely by myself (thanks to the help of Gary’s Mom and My Mom) but the few days Lillian and I had alone went well (exhausting, but good). I’m getting better at picking things up one handed and learning to shower within 10 minutes or scarf down a meal in 10 minutes, changing a diaper in the dark, and learning to sleep when she sleeps. Our lives have certainly changed but it’s all wonderful and amazing!
I finally got an opportunity to use my camera and set up some backdrops for portraits on Day 10 and I’ll leave you with a few of the portraits from our morning session. She was very alert and happy this morning so it was a perfect opportunity to take her picture and we also noticed that she loves to keep her left hand up by her face
So far, week 3 is going good — I’ll try to post more often as we finally all get adjusted to our new life together.

She’s beautiful!!
Sweet thing! I’m so glad you are getting in a groove
