More Flowers in the yard…

After I got home from the Irish Festival (post below), I decided to play in the backyard with the furbabies and plant some more flowers.

Look at this face… this is definitely a look. And the look behind this face was … “Why did you let the dogs outside? I was really enjoying the peace and quiet.”

Kiki enjoying some warmer weather…

Something got her attention…

Some pictures of the recent flowers:

Petunia hanging basket… a must have for any patio.

Snapdragons… supposedly these can withstand drought and heat. We’ll see.

Geraniums… hopefully a sure bet. We’ll see if they live through the next month.

More Snapdragons…

Then I decided I would check on the day lilies I planted last week and this is what I found:

SUCCESS! They have at least sprouted from the ground!  This is good!

As I was walking up to the backyard this is what I found… look at these sweet little noses. I love these noses…. and they love me.

I’m determined to have some blooms in our yard this year. I also planted some bogonia’s and dianthus border plants around our flower beds and they have helped to add a little touch of pink (pictures soon).

Mom tells me I shoud buy plant some Lantana in the back yard too. She says it’s really hardy and will bloom all summer, so as soon as they stock lantana in the nursery I’ll be bringing some of that home too.

So far this is what I’ve planted:

Front Yard (yellow/orange flowers):

Day lillies (yellow/orange)

Gladiolus

Back yard (pink/white flowers):

Dianthus

Bogonia

Lily of the Valley

Stargazer Lily

Gladiolus

Hostas

Astilbe

Hardy Phlox

Snapdragons

Potted Plants (pink):

Petunia Hanging Basket

Geranium

Hyacinth

I’ll keep you all updated on what works and what didn’t. :)
